Captain Ahab, said the reddening mate, moving further into the cabin, with a daring so strangely respectful and cautious that it almost seemed not only every way seeking to avoid the slightest outward manifestation of itself, but within also seemed more than half distrustful of itself; A better man than I might well pass over in thee what he would quickly enough resent in a younger man; aye

“Oh, it’s gonna be a wonderful day!” This sentence can hardly be said without enthusiasm, without really feeling that everything around you is great. Now, imagine waking up every morning with the intention to manifest a great day for yourself, with the strong conviction that the day will be just the way you want, and saying this sentence. With intention, not by accident; with belief, not by default.
Michael Losier is the best on the law of attraction issue. He teaches one exactly how to master the art of "believe". It is easy to tell people that the law of attraction works; however, the LOA works if one firmly believes in receiving something specific. Now what if one can not convince oneself to deeply believe? Michael has a whole chapter on how one can realistically think ones desire into reality.
This is not about blame. I truly believe it’s our job to do what we can to hold a positive vibration, BUT we live in a big ol’ Universe that’s always conspiring for us too. Timing is divine and sometimes things are just doing what they need to do because of something we can’t see. It’s important to not blame ourselves when things don’t happen like we intend, but instead to just keep on doing what we can and know it’s all working out for the greater good.
I do not claim to have all of those things either. However, I do have most of the things that I described and I managed to attain them through my value-based goals, plans, process-visualizations, and inspired action. I didn't ask the universe for it, you might say that the universe knew, but I was driven to get these things. I didn't act or pretend like I already had them.

Do you think you’d stay in bed if you’d start your day like that? Of course not – you’d be feeling energized, you would get out right away to do things that will make you feel even better – you’d be taking action needed to fully experience the miracle of the day you’ve created – for yourself, with your thoughts, focusing all of your words, thoughts and actions to attract more of that great feeling!

An example of a Law of Attraction affirmation that can be adjusted to suit you would be: “I am attracting a better, happier life every day, and I trust the Universe to give me what I need.”  To make it even more powerful is to channel your mind on specific elements of the affirmation. For example “I AM attracting a BETTER, happier life every day, and I TRUST the Universe to GIVE ME what I need.”
But the one who really first articulated the Law as general principle was Prentice Mulford. Mulford, a pivotal figure in the development of New Thought thinking, discusses the Law of Attraction at length in, for example, his essay "The Law of Success",[14] published 1886-1887. In this, Mulford was followed by other New Thought authors, such as Henry Wood (starting with his God’s Image in Man,[15] 1892), and Ralph Waldo Trine (starting with his first book, What All the World's A-Seeking,[16] 1896). For these authors, the Law of Attraction is concerned not only about health but every aspect of life.[17][18]
It is true what the law of attraction teaches, ‘thoughts equal things’ a truth which is truly worth celebrating! As once we have opened up our minds to the rare realization that we are in fact in charge of the lives that we lead, we can use this precious knowledge that ‘thoughts equal things’ to our advantage in order to change our lives for the better.
Speak your desires into existence and easily manifest anything that you want, using these powerful affirmations to manifest anything you want. These powerful affirmations to manifest anything you want will help you create the life you want. Remember, you are constantly co-creating with the Universe and these powerful affirmations to manifest anything you want will help change your life. Let's dive right into it.

Your second point is an interesting discussion. You are correct that in its infancy, psychology was criticized for claiming to be a scientific field and not living up to that assertion by performing quality research. I believe that this question has been put to rest as the rigors of publishing in psychology require randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled trials.

Law of Attraction Affirmations can take the form of internal thoughts or spoken words, but they can also be represented visually. Regardless of how you choose to use them, you can design them to reflect your vision of how you want your life to change. For example, many people have great success speaking affirming words into the mirror before going to work, or stating “today is going to be a great day” to infuse themselves with positivity upon waking. When used frequently enough, affirmations can enhance your use of the Law of Attraction by helping to reshape the core beliefs and assumptions that may be holding you back. They promote consistency, optimism and intense focus on the future you want to create.
If you are in pain, focus on the inch of your body that’s not in pain. If you are broke, hold the dollar in your wallet and focus on that. Start monitoring (not judging, but monitoring) your thoughts. You’ll be blown away by what goes on in your head every day. Stop when you find yourself talking about or thinking about what you don’t want, and immediately start telling yourself what you do want.
Business leaders should use language that affirms positive outcomes. Think about the subtle difference between the words "I am" and "I will be." The former puts you in the mindset of already achieving what you want, while the latter implies something you will do in the future. Be mindful of how you express yourself. Boxing legend Muhammad Ali is famous for saying, among other phrases, "I am the greatest!" I'm confident that you'll agree: "I will be the greatest" just doesn't pack the same punch.

The original creators of the law of attraction going back to the 1880s including Prentice Mulford,James Allen, Thomas Troward, William Walker Atkinson, Bruce MacLelland, Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, and W. Clement Stone promoted the belief that this is a universal law in which you attract only what you are thinking about. Modern LOA proponents such as Rhonda Byrne, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, John Assaraf, Joe Vitale, The Hicks family, and many others have stated similar beliefs.
There is no right or wrong answer to when is the best time to use affirmations. Most people prefer to use affirmations in the afternoon or evening, however, there is apparently a far greater benefit from using them in the morning. The main reason is that if you use your affirmations in the morning, you are effectively setting your day up by starting out in a positive frame of mind. Plus, saying powerful affirmations when you wake up can help you shake off any negativity from dreams or block your brain from filling up with any problems or difficulties you may be facing.
